What is Overweight ?
Carrying of more calories in body than required. This is the most simplest definition of Overweight. A pound of extra calories may not affect ones health. But when people keeep adding more calories than they burn. After certain period of time more and more calories accumulates in body in the form of fat. Finally person comes to a point where the accumulated fat starts affecting his health. Then the Doctor use the term "Overweight" or "Obese" to diagnose if someone has greater chances of developing weight related problems.How do people become Overweight ?
Overweight or obesity runs in families. It is hereditary in nature, gene plays major roles in ones health. Also environmental factor plays major role in developing obesity. In todays society, lifestyle and unhealthy food choice plays a major role in developing obesity. Doctors and Other health care professionals use a measurement called body mass index (BMI) to diagnose if someone is overweight. BMI is calculated based on persons height and weight.BMI is the ratio of height and weight, which determines the amount of fat the person has. To know BMI, its best to consult Doctor. Because in some cases one might have higher BMI but doesn't have excess fat. And in other cases one might have lover BMI but stll fit and fine. As we know different people have different shapes and structure of body. Body builder might tend to have muscular body and might look overweight. Also they might have higher BMI, which doesn't mean they are obese.
